Today we’re shipping SendYourDocs 3.0, the biggest update since we launched. This release includes three features that customers have been asking for since early 2024, plus a ground-up redesign of the main dashboard. Here’s what’s new and why we built it.
Bulk send
The most requested feature of the past year, by a wide margin. Bulk send lets you take a template and send it to hundreds (or thousands) of recipients at once by uploading a CSV file.
Here’s how it works:
- Pick a template.
- Upload a CSV with one row per recipient. Columns map to the template’s variable fields—name, email, company, contract amount, whatever your template needs.
- SendYourDocs generates a personalized document for each row and sends it.
- Track all sends from a single batch view. Filter by status (sent, opened, signed, expired) and send reminders in bulk.
We tested this with a property management company that sends lease renewals to 600 tenants every quarter. Previously, they had a part-time employee spending three full days preparing individual documents. With bulk send, the entire batch goes out in about 15 minutes.
Bulk send is available on Professional and Business plans.
Approval chains
Before 3.0, SendYourDocs supported sequential signing—you could require Signer A to sign before Signer B. But there was no way to route a document through internal approvers before it reached external signers.
Approval chains fix that. You can now define a multi-step workflow:
- Step 1: Sales rep fills in deal terms and submits for approval.
- Step 2: Sales manager reviews and approves (or rejects with comments).
- Step 3: If the deal is over $50,000, legal reviews.
- Step 4: Document goes to the customer for signature.
Each step can be sequential or parallel (for example, two co-founders who both need to approve). You can set conditions based on document fields, so certain steps only trigger when needed.
When someone approves or rejects, everyone in the chain gets notified. Rejected documents go back to the submitter with the reviewer’s comments attached.
New dashboard
The old dashboard showed a flat list of documents. It worked fine when you had 20 documents. It didn’t work well when you had 2,000.
The new dashboard has:
- Status tabs: Quick filters for drafts, awaiting signature, completed, and expired.
- Search: Find documents by recipient name, template name, or any text in the document.
- Batch view: See all documents from a bulk send grouped together.
- Activity feed: A chronological stream of recent events—signatures, views, approvals—across all your documents.
Documents also load about 40% faster now. We rewrote the PDF renderer to stream pages instead of loading the entire file at once. On a 50-page contract, you’ll see the first page in under a second instead of waiting for the full document to download.
Smaller improvements
A few other things that shipped with 3.0:
- SMS delivery: Send signing links via text message. Useful when your signers don’t check email regularly.
- Expiration dates: Set a deadline on any document. If it’s not signed by then, it locks automatically and you can choose to resend or void.
- Improved mobile signing: Tap-through field navigation, bigger signature pad, and better handling of pinch-to-zoom on long documents.
- Webhook retry logic: If your endpoint is down, we now retry with exponential backoff for up to 72 hours before marking the delivery as failed.
What’s next
We’re already working on the next batch of features. A few things on the roadmap for Q1 and Q2 2025:
- Custom branding on the signing experience (Business plan)
- In-person signing mode for tablets at events and offices
- A Zapier integration for no-code workflows
- Document analytics—average time to signature, drop-off rates, and more
